Being immortalised in poetry is a delightful tribute in life and as co-founders of South of France Writing Retreat we were tickled pink when Sir Norman Longworth with his bard-like talent honored us in this unique way.

To All Scribblers With Or Without A Dog
by Sir Norman Longworth
I’ll tell you a story, a fine tale of romance
Of Sean and Columbia in the far south of France.
Sean was a journalist, a lord of locution
He now runs retreats with firm resolution
Columbia the queen of most edible plants
A queen yet uncrowned maybe later perchance
One glorious winter they came to paradise,
To look after Jupy, a young dog with no vice
He showed them around this charming vicinity
Persuaded them that they had an affinity
So this heaven on earth naturally became
A centre of excellence in the literature game
A venue to locate a fine writing retreat
For those who would prefer real French victuals to eat
Four times hath Sean entered Lafabregue’s glorious gate
To help budding wordsmiths to articulate.
Writing isn’t the sole enjoyment to savour
There’s singing with Derek, good wines with great flavour
Trips to Unesco sites, poetry outstanding
And many fine places to enhance understanding
So hasten ye along to a land of high mountains
Beautiful villages and wonderful fountains
Stimulating sights will improve your writing
Spectacular sunsets will make it exciting
Sean’s an experience you’ll never forget
Delight in this venture and you'll never regret
...especially as there are only seven days left to register for our week-long writing retreat in the Pyrenees Orientales - deadline midnight Friday, February 28.
Pianist, composer, singer, champion cricketer, tennis player and golfer, Norman Longworth is also a leading international authority on lifelong learning.

And you'll have a chance to share a glass of wine (or two) and sing with with him in person. Norman that is. And Maggie too, his loving wife, an immensely kind, long-serving nurse who volunteers her time to help people suffering from cancer in the French region where the couple now live (and, of course, taking care of and being Muse to Norman, who being a creative musical and literary artist, can be somewhat....mischievous).
